Pioneer Biographies

Souvenir Edition, The Olympia Tribune
May, 1891

Thanks to the late Art Dwelley, foremost historian of South Thurston County, who had this historic newspaper in his collection, we have been able to save 125 biographies of prominent pioneers in Western Washington. An alphabetical listing of those included is found below. Within the newspaper, the only reference to its printing was, “This Tribune souvenir is the work of home talent. It was entirely printed and all the matter set in the State printing office in this city. The binding was also done in Olympia, it being the work of the Capital book bindery.”“ALTHOUGH  but one year old, the TRIBUNE has already become the leading paper of Southwestern Washington, and is always a welcome visitor to the business man and home.”Should you wish a copy of any of the biographies, contact Roger Easton.

The fee is $10 for a transcription. If you wish a scanned photo of the individual, please add $5. Should you desire, a darkroom processed photo is available. Please contact me regarding paper surface, size, and whether you wished it toned, or any other special feature.
